It’s Nothing New—But Most Americans Have Never Seen It Before

Most Americans have never seen their democracy fall. Exceptionalism has brainwashed us to think that this kind of instability only happens in other less civilized countries–”Banana Republics” or poor African countries with mad, greedy dictators who care nothing about their people. We tell ourselves, “This is not who we are!” We believe that only the Russian communists and ‘Arab’ Muslims have such instability. We are, after all, a God-fearing nation.” That’s the problem.

In history books and even today’s press, dictatorships sound like something that happened somewhere else—Germany during Hitler, Russia with Putin, Turkey with Erderon, Venezuela with Maduro. Many don’t recognize the signs in real time because they assume, “It could never happen here. We have the best governmental checks and balances of any nation.”

But it is happening here. Right now!

In less than a month back in office, Trump has moved faster than any modern leader to dismantle democratic institutions, erase checks and balances, purge law enforcement, and place a billionaire oligarch in charge of dismantling the U.S. government.

This isn’t a theory—it’s happening in real-time, and history has shown us where this leads, and it’s not a good place, especially for a country that has so much power over its citizens and over the world. Here is what’s happening and where this could lead.

Phase One: Destroy the Guardrails

Before any democracy collapses completely, the leader and his ideologues must neutralize anyone who can check their power:

✔ Fire prosecutors & investigators who hold the regime accountable.

✔ Stack the courts with loyalists to legalize corruption.

✔ Silence independent media so only the regime’s voice is heard.

✔ Privatize government control by placing friendly oligarchs in charge.

✔ Dismantle independent agencies that enforce fairness & transparency.

In just three weeks, Trump has:

• Fired prosecutors & FBI agents investigating him, with the intent to fire all involved in the investigation, essentially gutting the FBI, rendering it useless or a puppet.
• Defied Congress & the courts to block foreign aid & refugee protections, signaling that they are of no purpose. Checks and Balance? Gone!
• Seized control of federal financial systems via Elon Musk.
• Eliminated watchdog agencies like the EEOC & Privacy Oversight Board.
• Rewritten asylum laws by executive order—erasing due process, then deporting thousands of undocumented migrants.

What does this mean? The rule of law is gone.

Trump isn’t flexing his power, or as many people keep reassuring themselves, he is not just talking—he is obliterating any legal barriers that stand in his way.

And the Supreme Court, packed with Trump loyalists, will do nothing to stop him.

It gets worse!

Phase Two: Privatized Dictatorship – Elon Musk’s Role in Dismantling America

Elon Musk, a private citizen (himself, an immigrant from South Africa who left seeking a new country with established apartheid—U.S.A.), has officially taken control of key federal operations under the vague title of “special government employee.”

His role? To dismantle democracy faster than Trump can do alone.

✔ Musk controls the government’s financial systems—including Social Security payments, tax refunds, and federal payroll. It’s tax season, and we are all paying our taxes so that he can do as he pleases with our money.

✔ He’s demanding access to classified data at USAID, the State Department, and even military operations. He has closed USAID, something that can only legally be done by Congress.

✔ He’s shutting down government agencies overnight, preventing employees from reporting to work.

✔ Twitter/X is now a state-controlled propaganda machine, banning anti-Trump accounts and enforcing pro-regime narratives.

Musk is not just a tech mogul anymore—he is the American version of a Russian oligarch, controlling infrastructure, information, and financial power in ways no elected official ever could.

This isn’t hypothetical—it’s already happening. You can see it in the news daily.

Phase Three: What Comes Next (And It’s Already Starting)

Historically, once a leader fully captures the state, the next step is removing individual freedoms.

🔴 Targeting Private Businesses

Any corporation, bank, or law firm that refuses to comply will be harassed, sued, or dismantled. Independent wealth will be confiscated under bogus national security claims. We see this with TicTok. Some, like Meta, are quickly falling into line and have removed DEI and content moderation preping to become government propaganda machines. More will follow.

🔴 Dissent Will Be Criminalized

Opposition won’t just be censored on social media—it will be criminalized. Journalists, activists, and even average citizens who speak out will face arrests, job loss, and financial ruin. Here, it’s no longer about racism against brown people. This crackdown will happen to everyone.

🔴 Mass Surveillance & Tracking

With Musk controlling SpaceX, Tesla data collection, and Twitter, dissenters can be monitored in real-time. Protesters will lose access to banking, travel, and even employment. Elon Musk’s Neuralink, already publicly announced to have been tested on at least one human, can monitor individuals an authoritarian ruler or the law deems should be implanted with one of his brain chips.

🔴 Borders Will Close—Not Just for Immigrants

At first, Americans will cheer stricter border laws, thinking it only affects refugees and brown people. But in time, it will apply to U.S. citizens trying to leave. When they wake up, Canada and Mexico will refuse to accept them. Europe and other countries will protect their populations by restricting Americans through visas or outright bans.

🔴 Wars to Justify Crackdowns

Historically, every dictatorship creates external threats to justify full control. Hitler had Poland. Russia had Ukraine.

Trump will provoke conflicts with Mexico, Canada, or China to justify military rule at home.

What’s the Real Reason Americans Don’t See It Happening?

Most Americans don’t believe democracy can die in real time because they have never experienced it before. Exceptionalism fosters naivete, making them think, “This is not who we are!”

🚨 Distraction Works – Social media, the latest blockbuster film, Netflix, consumerism, and daily struggles of work and life keep people too busy to resist. When your main concern is daily trying to make ends meet, you won’t bother with the news much, and you will not stop to analyze what’s happening and prepare.

🚨 Propaganda Works – Once independent media is gone, Americans only see the government-approved version of reality. We already have media outlets that are propaganda machines focused on making money than on the truth.

🚨 Normalization Works – People adapt to small injustices, until one day they wake up in a completely different country. I mentioned this in another article and liken it to slowly cooking a frog.

How to Fight Back Before It’s Too Late

1️⃣ Diversify Your News Sources

• Get off corporate social media & find independent journalism.
• Subscribe to foreign news outlets that still report freely.
• Support investigative reporters before they’re silenced.

2️⃣ Prepare Financially & Logistically

• Keep cash, assets, and savings in places the government can’t freeze.
• Get passports & secondary citizenships before borders close. If you have parents with foreign nationality, get your foreign passport now. Update your present travel documents now as well before they add new requirements to have them.
• Network & build local in-person support systems—resistance starts offline.

3️⃣ Resist, While You Still Can

• Call out what’s happening before it’s illegal to do so. Tell your political representatives to enforce the legal systems, and not be afraid of Trump.
• Vote in 2026 & 2028, if elections still exist. Good luck to us all!
• Prepare for long-term resistance—dictatorships don’t collapse overnight.

Final Thoughts: America’s Future is Being Decided Now

This isn’t a political debate anymore. Trump does not want a democracy, and has shown that since 2016.

This is a historical turning point—one that most people won’t recognize until it’s too late.

By the time Americans start seeing protesters disappear, banks seize assets, and neighbors turn against each other as informers—it will already be done.

The first stage of dictatorship is dismantling democracy.

The next stage is hunting down the opposition.
